Yes! Portuguese Pod 101 does have quizzes and they are good! After every lesson (both audio and video) you have the opportunity to reinforce and practise what you have learned at that lesson.
The Review option right after the Lesson Materials (which helps you with the new words learned in that same lesson, meaning and pronunciation) gives the opportunity to review the new words.
There are the following three options of Review, Quizzes and Vocabulary Flashcards.
Let’s focus on the first ones. Quizzes. Two types of quizzes are available, Writing Questions and Review Questions. The Review Questions are basically 5 questions that you can answer true or false regarding the meaning of the Portuguese word in English. At the end you can check if your answers are correct and you’ll even get a score. This is a good way of passively checking that you have remembered the words.
The Writing Questions are a bit different, once again there are 5 of them, but this time you’ll be given 5 words that you’ll have to write the meaning in Portuguese. If you prefer to do it the other way around, as the word in Portuguese and you write the meaning in English you can do that after changing the language at Quiz Settings.
This exercise is a bit more difficult since you’ll need to remember how to write the word, the good thing is that you can change the language that you are writing in so this way you can do this exercise twice. Once again at the end you can ask for a score, you can retake the test right away but if you didn’t get 100% I believe it would be better to try it a bit later. This Portuguese Pod 101 exercise is using active memory as opposed to the previous exercise which is passive memory.
In general this is a very good type of exercise to learn more vocabulary. Since the Portuguese Pod 101 Quizzes are quite short no one will feel bored doing it and it’s a great opportunity to see where you need to improve.
